Title: 1-3 | Semiconductor Challenges in the 5G and 6G Technology Platforms

Description:

Authors:
Bjorn Ekelund, Ericsson AB, Sweden

Semiconductor technology is an essential element in the evolution of wireless communications and Ericsson invests heavily into its semiconductor platform, Ericsson Silicon. The development of requirements on wireless communications infrastructure in terms of capacity, performance, and energy efficiency clearly outpaces Moore’s law, calling for novel approaches in both architecture and component design. This paper discusses the major challenges for each of the major subsystems in a state-of-the art wireless infrastructure.
